Colossal Biosciences Acquires Viagen Pets & Equin

Colossal Biosciences has completed its first acquisition, bringing Austin-based Viagen Pets & Equine into the company to accelerate species-preservation efforts. Viagen adds two decades of expertise in assisted reproduction, cryopreservation, and biobanking—capabilities that have supported work with threatened and endangered animals. Colossal says the integration will expand its BioVaults initiative, strengthen genetic-diversity programs, and speed the development of practical conservation tools. Viagen will continue operating its pet, equine, and livestock services while contributing methods and protocols to Colossal’s research pipeline. Leadership frames the deal as a strategic step toward building a global infrastructure that safeguards at-risk species today and supports future population recovery efforts.
