Dire Wolf Pups Turn One With Cake and Anthem

Colossal’s dire wolf brothers mark a year on a 2,000-acre preserve with a custom song and vet-guided care.

Romulus and Remus, Colossal Biosciences’ first revived dire wolves, just turned one. The pups live on a monitored 2,000-acre preserve, where they’ve grown past 120 pounds and continue developing natural pack behaviors. To mark the milestone, musicians Stan Bush and Lenny Macaluso debuted “Happy Birthday Dire Wolf,” while the team served a 3D wolf-shaped enrichment cake. The update reinforces progress across Colossal’s platform: the colossal dire wolf project proves scalable de-extinction methods, and recent pigeon PGC advances the dodo revival effort forward. Together, these programs show how precision genetics supports conservation at species and ecosystem levels.
