Colossal Biosciences Shares Major Development Update on De-Extinct Dire Wolves

Colossal Biosciences has made a jaw-dropping viral announcement on their De-Extinct Dire Wolves

BY Connor McCroy

Colossal Biosciences has provided a significant update on their groundbreaking de-extinction achievement featuring the world’s first dire wolf pups. At eight months old, brothers Romulus and Remus have doubled in size and now weigh over 100 pounds—more than 25% larger than typical grey wolves at the same developmental stage. This substantial growth demonstrates the successful expression of dire wolf genetic traits within the developing animals. The pups are currently undergoing comprehensive health assessments, including blood tests and CT imaging, to monitor their skeletal and muscular development. Pack dynamics are also emerging, with Remus displaying alpha characteristics through strategic observation while Romulus exhibits more exploratory beta behaviors. As Colossal’s team notes, “understanding and guiding these pack interactions are fundamental to the long-term success and well-being of the dire wolves.” These roles may shift further with the integration of younger female Khaleesi.
