The Colossal Foundation has doubled its capital. A second $50 million raise, bringing total funding to $100 million, caps a first year in which more than a dozen projects were launched across six continents, over 40 animal species were impacted, and more than 50 conservation, Indigenous, and academic partners were engaged worldwide.
The additional capital will accelerate work on critically endangered species, genetic rescue, wildlife monitoring, and rewilding. Projects from the inaugural year include the BioVault, Colossal’s genetic preservation network; the Species Reintroduction Fund; AI-enabled bioacoustics decoding wolf howls in Yellowstone; red wolf cloning for genetic diversity; and genetic solutions to protect Australia’s endangered quolls from invasive cane toads. Colossal’s for-profit arm is targeting a first woolly mammoth birth by 2028.
