Austin Bow, Ph.D.

As an associate director of the Mammoth Team, Dr. Bow leads efforts to derive, biobank, characterize, and modify cell lines from elephants and other model / non-model organisms.  His graduate studies and post-doctoral work focused on the derivation and characterization of multipotent stem cells from multiple species and their application on novel and commercial 3D scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.  Having joined Colossal Biosciences at an early stage he has collaborated closely with colleagues on core conservation goals for the company, including the publication of a high-quality reference genome for Loxodonta Africana on the NCBI database.  He has a tremendous respect for nature and is passionate about the use of cutting edge technologies to further conservation efforts alongside Colossal’s de-extinction objectives.
