Dr. Allison Anderson

Dr Allison Anderson is a specialist in tourism planning and strategy, and an advocate for building community benefit from tourism.

As a consultant, Allison has led and delivered projects across Australia with a specific focus on nature based and adventure tourism. She has led the delivery of many destination management plans including the Blue Mountains, Australia’s Coral Coast (WA), Australia’s Golden Outback (WA), and Benalla (VIC). She also co-led the delivery of the Victorian Visitor Economy Strategy. As head of Research & Insights at Tourism Tasmania, Allison led the unordinary adventures research, measurement of tourism and profiling of visitors to Tasmania.

Allison’s PhD is in urban design and tourism, where she examined the delivery of tourism experiences at a destination level. She has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning (academic medal) and a Science degree (hons). She has worked as a Strategic Planner and academic, conducted social impact assessments, developed business plans and advised businesses on post-disaster recovery.  She is currently Chair of the Northern Tasmania Development Corporation and a Ministerially appointed member of Tasmania’s statutory Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council. She is an adjunct to the University of Tasmania and a Tasmanian Tourism Awards Judge.
